Our history...
The Palmerston Veterinary Hospital was established at its present site in Buckhurst Hill in 1968 and was granted Veterinary
Hospital status by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, our
governing body in 1969. We were one of the first practices in the United Kingdom to earn this privilege.
A Veterinary Hospital is a veterinary practice that has been independently inspected to ensure that they match up to the
stringent requirements set by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. This is your guarantee that the Palmerston Veterinary
Hospital meets the highest standards for veterinary practices in the UK.

The standards cover a wide range of areas: from nursing staff being on duty 24 hours each day of the year to monitoring
anaesthetised patients and from hygiene to providing an isolation nursing care area.
Veterinary Surgeons are under no obligation to provide these extensive facilities however The Palmerston Veterinary Group
has chosen to meet these standards and to face regular re-inspections every four years, because we wish to provide the
highest standard of care for your pet.
In February 2002 we opened a satellite or branch practice The Walthamstow Veterinary Surgery in north Walthamstow to
serve the needs of our clients in that area. Situated conveniently at 7 Wyatts Lane, Walthamstow, London E 17 (just off
Wood Street), the surgery provides a welcome service for local residents, within walking distance for many. There is usually
plenty of parking in the adjacent neighbourhood roads.
We can provide many services directly from The Walthamstow Veterinary Surgery, such as routine operations, dental treatment,
day patient care, nutritional support and weight clinics. Some services, such as x-rays, ultrasound and overnight hospitalisation
are provide by the hospital and any patients requiring these services can be transported from The Walthamstow Veterinary
Surgery by one of our staff.
The surgery is staffed by Veterinary Surgeon Neil Hampson, Natalie Cheshire and Elizabeth Ford.
The surgery is run along the same principles and standards as the hospital as we aim to give the same service at all
our premises.
In March 2009 we opened a satellite or branch practice The Romford Veterinary Surgery in Hornchurch.

We can provide many services directly from The Romford Veterinary Surgery, such as routine operations, dental treatment, day patient care, nutritional support and weight clinics.
Some services, such as x-rays, ultrasound and overnight hospitalisation are provided by the hospital and any patients requiring these services can be transported from The Romford Veterinary Surgery by one of our staff.
